03.10.2005 - Home Office Minister Utilises HSM Showroom to Launch New Identity Theft Initiative

HSM were pleased to respond to a request from the Home Office, via one of their re-sellers, The Shredder Warehouse, to utilise their showroom as a venue for the launch of an important new initiative. Andrew Burnham, the Minister who is championing the project visited HSM’s offices recently, along with a number of other dignatories including representatives from the Home Office Identity Fraud Reduction Team and APACS, the Association of Payment Clearing Services.

A new publication in the form of a leaflet entitled

‘Identity Theft – Don’t Become a Victim‘ (PDF)

was launched giving advice on the steps that can be undertaken to protect yourself against identity theft and fraud and also what to do if it happens to you. Other subjects that the leaflet covers include things to look out for, as indicators that you may have been a victim, how to protect yourself, including purchasing and using a shredder, and further sources of information and advice.

Working with the Home Office, HSM have printed a further supply of the new leaflets and will be pleased to provide a copy or copies upon application. Commented Craig Boulter, Sales Director of the OT Division for HSM: ‘ We are delighted to have been chosen by the Home Office to assist them with launching this initiative. It illustrates how much of a threat the problem still is and that the Government is working hard to combat the problem’.
